FWC Update 6/30/2020
We are certainly living in a very different world since the COVID pandemic shook the world and shut down businesses and economies across the globe. Then, falling on the heels of the slow recovery was the shocking death of George Floyd that led to protests calling for racial equality.
Despite all the obstacles and disruptions to our everyday lives, we persevere. We continue to find innovative ways to conduct business while keeping ourselves, our families and our workers safe. FWC shifted operation to our homes, continuing to keep our members updated with all the latest news, along with resources to assist with business continuity.
Our webinars have provided members with current information regarding the government's PP and EIDL loans, changes to the SBA's WBE certification process, and procurement opportunities with the IL Capital Development Board and the City of Chicago.
Additionally, we continue to advocate for our members by participating on the GPC Forum, BEP Council, the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership-Service Delivery Committee, the Reopening Chicago-B2B Working Team (Manufacturing, Transportation, Construction and Utilities), IL Tollway Diversity Action Council, IDOT's Industry Policy Committee, holding discussions with the Mayor's Office, members of the Chicago City Council, and state legislators.
Now that the state has moved into Phase 4 of the Reopening Plan, we continue to be optimistic that everyone will adjust to a new normal and we will be able to gather again soon.
In the meantime, we will continue to work for our members to ensure they have access to greater opportunities within the construction industry.
The health and safety of our members and partners is always FWC’s top priority. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread, we all need to take precautionary steps to help contain the virus.
Therefore, FWC has decided to cancel all of its upcoming events scheduled for the next 30 days . We will continue to monitor the spread of the virus and notify you when we reschedule our events calendar.
